Autopsies have been performed on the bodies of teenage twins who died in Fort McMurray on Sunday night.
Identical twins James and William Beck died after an altercation in Borealis Park. Police found the critically injured 17-year-olds after responding to the park for a report of an assault. The popular Grade 11 students were pronounced dead in hospital.
RCMP have said the young men’s deaths are suspicious.
The cause of the deaths, and whether or not they are homicides, have not yet been confirmed.
Friends and family members have said that the teens were stabbed after an altercation involving several people at the park, but RCMP Const. Dustin Greig said nothing will be confirmed until the autopsies are done.
“To say that these individuals were stabbed to death is pre-emptive and speculative,” he said. “Only a doctor can determine that. Just because it’s out there, doesn’t mean it’s true.”
The autopsy results are expected to be released on Thursday.
