Evanston fire sends man to hospital

CALGARY – One man had to be taken to hospital on Wednesday after a fire broke out in his northwest home.

Firefighters rushed to the 100 block of Evansbrook Way N.W. to find flames shooting from the basement of the house.

Crews were able to enter the building and extinguish the fire.

A 50-year-old man was transported to hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
