Arizona man convicted of smuggling weapons at Coutts border crossing

CALGARY – An Arizona man has been sentenced to four months in prison after attempting to smuggle weapons into Canada.

Glenn Winningham Fearn was arrested while trying to cross into Canada at the Coutts border crossing on October 11th, 2013.

Police searched his vehicle and seized one blowgun, two push daggers, one can of pepper spray and 10 overcapacity magazines.

On March 5th, 56-year-old Fearn was found guilty of four counts under the Criminal Code and one count under the Customs Act.

He has been sentenced to four months behind bars, two years probation with strict conditions, a 10-year weapons prohibition and a $250 fine.
