Hwy. 400 reopened in both directions near Barrie

TORONTO – Ontario Provincial Police have reopened all lanes of Highway 400 following a multi-vehicle collision near Barrie early Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened between Highway 89 and Innisfil Beach Road.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford tells Global News the crash involved four cars, a tractor trailer and a cube van.

One person was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The highway was closed for the majority of the afternoon as the OPP reconstruction team conducted its investigation.

There was also a large fuel spill that crews had to clean up.

Just last week, a sudden snow squall caused a 96 car pileup near the same area, closing the stretch of road between Hwy. 89 and Mapleview Drive for most of the day.

No one was seriously injured in that crash.
