CALGARY – Firefighters are cleaning up after a water main break in the community of Lakeview on Wednesday.
The break in the 6300 block of Crowchild Trail S.W. sent water gushing down an alley and along Longridge Drive S.W.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 6:30 a.m.
The cold weather caused the water to quickly freeze, trapping some area residents whose vehicles became stuck in a large sheet of ice covering the street.

Officials say 39 homes have been impacted by the break, but hope water services will be restored by Thursday.
Firefighters have responded to over a dozen pipe bursts and water main breaks in the past few days, thanks to the frosty weather.
