The NHL says the roof at BC Place will stay closed for the Heritage Classic game between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators this afternoon due to accumulation of precipitation on the roof and forecast for more rain.

This is the first time the Heritage Classic will be played indoors.

It was not until a couple of hours before the 1 p.m. game that the decision to keep the retractable roof closed was made.

Today’s forecast started with an extended snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver, after many areas received a dusting of snow overnight.

The snowfall warning was ended this afternoon, with snow turning into rain in many parts of Metro Vancouver.
