TORONTO – A large section of Highway 401 was closed for several hours Wednesday after a pileup involving at least eight tractor-trailers brought traffic in the eastbound lanes to a halt.
The Ontario Provincial Police say the crash happened at approximately 3:20 a.m. Wednesday and left diesel fuel on the road after the tractor-trailers crashed into each other. Other vehicles ended up in the nearby ditch.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Cobourg and Grafton were closed for several hours.
Watch: So what’s being done about the highway? Alan Carter reports.
Despite the large amount of vehicles involved, only one person was hurt, receiving minor injuries. They were treated at a nearby hospital.
