Surrey will open their new multi-million dollar City Hall Monday, the first part of a redevelopment plan that the city hopes will revitalize the city centre.
The 180,000 square foot building isn’t quite finished yet, but all city departments have been moved over to the new building and the old city hall is closed.

The new building is LEED Gold, and gets energy from a district energy system that is also used to heat and cool the City Centre Library and the upcoming 3 Civic Plaza hotels and condos.
There will also be a large public plaza connecting the new City Hall, the library, 3 Civic Plaza and SFU.
The City of Surrey says the new building will help streamline services for residents, offering one-stop shopping for city services.
The new council chambers will be dual-purpose, allowing them to be used for council meetings and rented to the public.
The new Surrey City Hall cost $97 million, as part of an overall $500 million civic redevelopment plan for the city centre.
