Potential flooding in Eastend this spring

The Saskatchewan watershed authority is predicting the Missouri River Basin (South slope of Cypress Hills) has a well above normal runoff potential.

A cool spring has resulted in runoff being delayed but it is possible that the melt may come quickly increasing runoff peaks and volumes.

Farmstaeds adjacent to the creeks and rivers in this basin, as well as the town of Eastend are at risk for flooding. The water supply reservoir behind Eastend dam does not provide flood control benefits.

The Saskatchewan Watershed authority will monitor the situation and issue updates as new information becomes available.
