Sport: Long Track Speed Skating

Age: 23

Hometown: Calgary, Alta.

Accomplishments:

  • Three career World Championship top-20 finishes

Interesting Fact: Had a strange introduction to speed skating at age 10. A family friend she hadn’t seen in a while was visiting her parents when she noticed how muscular Irvine’s thighs were. The family friend suggested that she give speed skating a try.

Chances: Like many of her teammates Irvine is part of the young, up-and-coming skaters on Team Canada. She is not expected to medal, but Sochi 2014 will be an invaluable experience for her.
