CALGARY – If the post-Christmas blues are getting you down, don’t fret – a long weekend is just a few weeks away.

For many Canadians, Family Day is the first long weekend of the New Year – and it’s fast approaching.

This year, the statutory holiday falls on Monday, February 17th (or Monday, February 10th if you’re in B.C.)

If you’re planning a weekend getaway but don’t yet know where to go, Hotwire.com has released their list of the top 10 most popular travel destinations for Canadians over Family Day 2014.

This year, the travel website says domestic destinations are most popular, with six of the top ten cities right here in Canada.

However, Vancouver placed in fourth spot, overtaking Montreal.

Meanwhile, two destinations in Alberta – Banff (a newcomer to the list) and Edmonton – take the number seven and eight spots this year.

Rounding out the list are Fort Lauderdale (also new) and Las Vegas.
