WINNIPEG – Hanover School Division, based in Steinbach, Man., cancelled classes Thursday due to the extreme cold.
Brandon, Winnipeg and the surrounding areas were under extreme wind chill warnings on Thursday morning, Environment Canada said. Extreme wind chills of -40 moderated late in the morning and the wind chill warning was lifted at around 10:30 a.m.

Winnipeg was at -30 C with a wind chill of -39 at 7 a.m. Thursday morning.
Churchill and York are under blizzard warnings. The blizzard is expected to start near midnight and continue through Friday.

- Morden, Winkler, Altona, Emerson, Morris
- Steinbach, St. Adolphe, Dominion City, Vita, Richer
