SASKATOON – Cold weather won’t keep cyclists from hitting the streets on Feb. 1 in Saskatoon.
The fifth annual Ice Cycle will be taking place that day and Kamil Rogowski says they “can’t wait to get ‘the coldest bicycle ride on the planet’ underway.
The Ice Cycle ride starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Farmer’s Market and will wind through the downtown core before ending up back where it started about a half-hour later.

Rogowski, the coordinator of the event, says this years’ ride will highlight the need for more bike lanes in the city.
“This year the route will include both 4th Ave and 24th Street in support of the Better Bike Lanes project” explains Rogowski.

The Better Bike Lanes project is spearheaded by Saskatoon Cycles which is looking to bring a better and safer cycling infrastructure to downtown Saskatoon this summer.
On Monday, Saskatoon city council approved a plan to have temporary bike lanes installed on 4th Avenue and 24th Street.
