RCMP officer injured after assault in Brock, Saskatchewan

BROCK, Sask. – A police officer from the Kindersley RCMP detachment was injured after being assaulted at a Brock, Saskatchewan residence on Thursday.

Police first received a complaint at the front counter of the detachment that an assault had occurred at the residence earlier in the day.

Two members went to investigate and located a man believed to be responsible for the alleged assault.

Cory Jeffery, 19, then allegedly assaulted one of the officers when an arrest attempt was made.

The officer was injured and was treated at Kindersley Hospital. He has been released and remains on duty.

Jeffery has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, assault with a weapon causing bodily harm and breach of probation.

He remains in custody until his next court appearance on Jan. 21.
