PICTOU, N.S. – The trial of a Nova Scotia man accused of murdering Amber Kirwan resumed Wednesday with more testimony from toxicologist Lori Campbell.
Christopher Alexander Falconer is facing a charge of first-degree-murder.
He is accused of fatally stabbing Kirwan in October 2011 – about a month before her bound and naked body was found in a muddy, shallow grave near New Glasgow.
The trial has heard extensive testimony about fingerprints and toxicology.
Crown attorney Bill Gorman told the thirteen jurors Tuesday that an autopsy revealed Kirwan had between 10 and 100 times the therapeutic amount of codeine in her blood stream.
The jurors also heard that Falconer’s fingerprints were found on and inside a car that was seized by police.
Campbell is the 23rd witness to testify. The court expects to hear testimony from about 40 witnesses before the trial concludes at the end of the month.
