Today, January 9th, marks Kate Middleton’s 32nd birthday, and her first birthday as a new mom! I can only imagine how she’ll be celebrating. I like to think, as a royal, she’ll be fussed over, pampered, and receive lots of lavish presents full of rubies, emeralds and sapphires. But my humble impression of The Duchess of Cambridge knows better. She’ll likely have a quiet birthday with family and loved ones, maybe with her favourite childhood birthday cake, and perhaps a special gemstone gift from her Prince husband. According to Kensington Palace, The Duchess is “spending it privately.”
Prince George of Cambridge, at just five months of age, will likely be the apple of his mother’s eye today. And what of all those rumours Kate is pregnant with a second baby? Well, at this point they’re just that… rumours.
Given the past year she’s had, I anticipate a quiet start to her 32nd year until we see her and Prince William in New Zealand and Australia this April. Prince William is also a busy dad; on top of his royal duties and new papa duties, he’s started a 10-week agricultural management course at the University of Cambridge.
So given their busy schedule and new life as parents, I hope Kate is enjoying her family time today.
