A stretch of Highway 97 in the South Okanagan that closed Wednesday morning because of a serious collision should reopen in the afternoon.
South Okanagan RCMP say the two-vehicle crash happened near Oliver, along Highway 97 between Roads 20 and 21, around 8 a.m.

According to police, one vehicle drove into the oncoming lane, with both drivers suffering life-threatening injuries. One of the vehicles was reportedly on fire.
Police told Global News that officers were collecting evidence and that the investigation would take time.
Detours were set up for southbound motorists, with police noting that the highway could reopen by 3 p.m.
