Yolanda Foster returns to ‘Real Housewives’ after illness

TORONTO — Yolanda Foster believes she’s lucky to be around for a second season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

While taping her first season, she felt ill and was eventually diagnosed with Lyme disease.

“I had the virus in my brain. I lost complete brain function,” Foster recalled. “I was in bed for seven months staring at the ceiling, not being able to write or read. I had to relearn to write the alphabet. It was that severe.”

Lyme disease is a tick-borne infection that starts with fever, headache and fatigue.

“I’ve been sick now for 18 months and still my main focus every day is to find a cure for Lyme disease and with that comes my responsibility to the world to bring awareness to the disease.”

Foster has been married since 2011 to Canadian music producer and composer David Foster — whom she describes as “the most incredible man on the planet.”

A mom to three teenage children from a previous marriage, Foster was born in the Netherlands and started working as a model when she was in her teens.

She said the key to a successful relationship is working to create romance.

“At the end of the day romance is up to the woman,” said Foster. “It’s for us to create the sexy little things — the romantic dates, cooking dinner, putting candles in the bedroom, making that extra little effort to have a romantic night.”

Season four of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills kicks off Tuesday night on Slice, which is owned by Global News parent company Shaw Media.
