Report claims ‘Fifty Shades’ leaving Vancouver due to bad weather

TORONTO — Several media outlets reported Monday that production of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is packing up and leaving Vancouver due to poor weather.

According to the reports — which appear to originate with the Spanish news agency EFE — filming is being moved to Miami.

The agency quoted an unnamed production company representative as saying: “The downtown Miami skyline looks a lot like downtown Vancouver.”

Temperatures in Miami are currently as much as 20 degrees Celsius above those in Vancouver.

EFE reported stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will spend two weeks in Miami working on scenes for Fifty Shades, which is scheduled to shoot in Vancouver until the end of February.

Fifty Shades author E.L. James is currently in Vancouver, where cameras have started rolling again following a holiday break.

No one from the Fifty Shades production company could be reached for comment.

According to the Miami Film Office, no permits have been issued or requested for Fifty Shades.
