EDITOR’S NOTE: This story has been updated from its original version to remove the names of the three children and their mother. RCMP say the 55-year-old woman was arrested on Sept. 25 in Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask. Police say the children were reunited with family in Ontario.
Manitoba RCMP say they’re on the lookout for three children who were found by police on the weekend — after being reported missing from Ontario last December — but have disappeared again.
The boys — ages 12, 11 and 9 — were taken into care by RCMP early Sunday morning after they were stopped at the Canada/U.S. border at Boissevain, Man., travelling with their mother.
RCMP said they were attempting to cross into the United States.
The 55-year-old woman, the subject of a warrant for child abduction issued in Durham, Ont., was arrested but later released by RCMP as the warrant’s jurisdiction didn’t extend into Manitoba.
Police were notified around 1:30 a.m. Monday that the three boys were missing from the Forrest, Man., home they’d been placed in, and are believed to be on the road again with their mother.
“We’re not sure if they’re heading back to Ontario or perhaps they’re heading west,” RCMP Sgt. Paul Manaigre told 680 CJOB.
“Right now it’s wide open as to where they could be, so we’re trying to get the message out across the province here. If further tips come in that she has perhaps entered another province, then we’ll help to get that message spread out even further.”
