One person injured after blaze in West End home

WINNIPEG- One person was taken to hospital with an injured ankle and smoke inhalation after jumping out a second story window to escape a West End house fire Friday afternoon.

Witnesses say it was a teenage boy. Officials say he was rushed to hospital in stable condition.

Multiple fire and emergency crews responded to the blaze at a home in the 200-block of Beverley Street during the noon hour.

Flames and smoke were seen pouring from second floor and the attic of the two-storey house.

The fire had spread between the first and second floors of the building by the time crews entered.

The fire caused more than $150,000 in damage to the home.

No word yet on the cause.
