In Saskatoon, the local community has come together to raise funds and donations to help those impacted by the storm.

Organized by Stepping Stone Ministries, dozens of volunteers helped fill two containers on Friday and Saturday with 1,500 boxes of much needed supplies.

“The people of Saskatoon have blown our expectations,” said Robin Bellamy, the project coordinator for relief for the Philippines.

“We were raising money to send one container and we ended up needing two. That’s all good news and not only did we get the items we needed, but we got the financial support we needed too.”

The group also plans to send a team of volunteers in February to help with the clean-up efforts.
