Saskatchewan roads proving safer

SASKATOON –The year isn’t over but Saskatchewan’s roads have been much safer this year compared to a deadly 2012.

According to SGI, there were 153 fatal collisions, resulting in 184 deaths in 2012.

From Jan. 1 2013 to Nov. 30 2013, preliminary numbers show there have been 114 fatal crashes and 136 deaths on Saskatchewan roads.

These numbers are subject to change since investigations are ongoing.

Police in the province are currently participating in Operation Overdrive, which targets drunk driving throughout December.

Last December’s Operation Overdrive ticketed 217 impaired motorists.
