RCMP are treating the death of four people found in a rural home near Neudorf, Sask., as suspicious.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s major crimes unit has now taken over the investigation, along with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
“On March 24, 2024, at approximately 6:05 p.m., Melville RCMP received a request to conduct a wellness check at a rural residence near Neudorf, Saskatchewan,” police said.
“Officers attended the property and located four deceased adults inside the residence.”
Police said their initial investigation has indicated that the deceased were of the same family, made up of two parents and two of their adult children.
“We are not providing their names or other identifying information at this time,” police said in a release. “Their next of kin have been notified and victim services made available to them.”
Police stated that the Saskatchewan RCMP major crimes and general investigation section will remain at the scene to perform further examination, processing and interviews.
The four deceased individuals have been transported to Regina, where autopsies will take place this week.
“We are unable to confirm additional details at this stage in the investigation,” police stated. “We will provide updates when it is possible.”
Police said they have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public but if this changes, Saskatchewan RCMP will notify the public immediately.
