U.S. network to put ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on hold

TORONTO — The CW announced changes to its schedule Thursday that will affect several made-in-Canada shows.

The U.S. network is shelving Beauty and the Beast in March for an unspecified period. The series, starring Vancouver’s Kristin Kreuk, is filmed in Toronto.

Production of its sophomore season is scheduled to continue until April 22.

In Canada, Beauty and the Beast airs on Showcase.

The show will be replaced on The CW by the Vancouver-shot series The Tomorrow People.

The network plans to debut the new series The 100 — which is also filmed in Vancouver — on March 19.

The time slot for Reign, which is made in Toronto, will remain unchanged. Production of the first season just wrapped.

Also unaffected by the changes is the made-in-Vancouver action series Arrow starring Toronto’s Stephen Amell.
