Toronto police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in the northwest of the city.
Police said they were called to the area of Jane Street and Clair Road, near Sheppard Avenue West, for reports of a collision around 7 p.m. on Thursday.
A Toyota C-HR was driving south on Jane Street at that time when a 70-year-old man stepped onto a Jane Street crossing, according to police.
The Toyota allegedly hit the man, “causing significant injuries.”

Police said the man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In a later update, police said the man had died from his injuries.
The driver involved remained at the scene, investigators said.
“The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services,” Toronto police said, appealing for anyone with footage or memory of the incident to reach out.
