It looks like the Metro Vancouver bus strike has been averted as the two sides involved say they have accepted mediator Vince Ready’s recommendations.
In a statement Thursday afternoon, Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) said it has received and accepted the recommendations put forward by Ready.
“As recommended by the Special Mediator, the next step will be to sign a Memorandum of Agreement before the ratification process,” Coast Mountain said.
About an hour previously, the union representing Metro Vancouver transit supervisors said it was urging members to accept recommendations from Ready.

CUPE 4500 members have been on strike since Jan. 6, when they began an overtime ban. That escalated last week to a 48-hour shutdown of the Coast Mountain bus and SeaBus networks.

The bus company said previously the union is demanding a 25 per cent pay rise which it called unreasonable, while the union says Coast Mountain tried to bully it in the negotiations.
The details of the agreement have not been released.
