A person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an RV fire in northeast Calgary early Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Calgary EMS said an adult was taken to hospital after paramedics were called to the 5500 block of Maddock Drive Northeast just before 1 a.m. They said the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Police told Global News that the RV caught fire behind a home and that investigators believe the fire was the result of a minor leak from a propane tank.

Carol Henke, public information officer of the Calgary Fire Department, said a man and a woman were in the RV trying to relight their propane furnace.
“It had an incident where it flashed and injured both of them,” Henke told Global News.
Henke said the “flash” could have happened if an amount of unburned gas accumulated in the area.
“If the gas builds up and then you have an ignition source, it’s going to be a larger fire than what was anticipated just to light the furnace,” she said.
She added there was nothing suspicious about the fire.
