TORONTO — Director and choreographer Adam Shankman has checked himself into rehab.
According to a statement from his rep, the 49-year-old “is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation centre. His friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to recovery.”
US Weekly was first to report on Shankman’s decision to enter rehab.

The news comes only months after his friend Zac Efron revealed he completed a stint in rehab earlier this year.
Following the fatal drug overdose of Canadian actor Cory Monteith in July, Shankman tweeted: “Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend … the world just lost one of our best.”
Shankman directed Efron in the 2007 made-in-Toronto musical film Hairpsray. He also directed such Toronto-shot movies as 2005’s The Pacifier and Cheaper by the Dozen 2.
Shankman has also appeared regularly as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance.
On Tuesday, he tweeted a photo showing him the night before with Glee stars Darren Criss, Jane Lynch and Adam Lambert.
