PLATTSBURGH, NY – Plattsburgh International Airport Thursday announced a new low-cost carrier service to the Bahamas, Aruba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

The airport said the new service will expand its flight schedule with more than 40 connecting flights to the Caribbean regions.

It also means the airport, often called Montreal’s U.S. Airport, will be serving seven of the top ten travel destinations most sought after by Montrealers in surveys by the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce.

More details of the new service were being announced later.

Plattsburgh International Airport, owned and operated by the Clinton County Government, is a multi-aviation centre of 5,000 acres created from the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base.

Allegiant Air now flies from Plattsburgh to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and St.Petersburg in Florida and Direct Air to Myrtle Beach, SC., and Punta Gorda/Ft.Myers, FL.

Plattsburgh International is a one-hour drive from Montreal via the Champlain/Lacolle border crossing.
