Alberta RCMP officers are warning the public after three stolen pickup trucks were sold online to unsuspecting people.
According to a news release on Monday, three Ford Raptor pickup trucks were stolen, given new vehicle identification numbers and sold online or by roadside private sales. Police said purchasers said they completed lien checks, Carfax or Carproof checks which didn’t tell them the vehicles were given new VINs.
The victims were located in both the Calgary and Edmonton areas, and police estimate the value of each of the vehicles is $80,000.

Mounties advised those who are privately purchasing a vehicle to take extra precautions, including:
- Asking for identification from the seller
- Buying used cars from reputable dealers
- If the price of the vehicle seems too good to be true, it probably is
- If anything feels off about the seller including cash-only deals, wanting to meet at odd locations or times, be prepared to walk away
