SASKATOON – Winter weights are now in effect on Saskatchewan highways so shippers can make fewer trips.

During the winter months, secondary weight highways are strong enough to support the heaviest legal loads like primary weight highways.

In order to maximize the economic movement of goods and minimize the damage to roads, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure assigns special weights to some highways.

Winter weights are typically removed in mid-March.
