Edmonton’s Anthony Henday Drive west between 111th Street and Rabbit Hill Road was open again to traffic as of 11 a.m. Thursday after experiencing “serious delays” due to a collision earlier in the morning.
At 6:49 a.m., police were called about a collision involving a red Cadillac CTS.
Police said the vehicle reportedly struck a white Toyota Highlander and then a school bus, before crashing into the ditch.
The driver of the Toyota, a woman in her 30s, was checked by EMS on scene.
The driver of the bus, a woman in her 40s, was taken to hospital as a precaution. There were no children on the bus.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 35-year-old man, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
“Speed and substance impairment are believed to be factors in the collision,” Edmonton police said.
Police added that charges are pending against the 35-year-old man and the investigation is continuing.
The Henday was shut down from approximately 7:40 a.m. to 9:40 a.m., when two out of three lanes were reopened. The Henday was completely open by 11 a.m.
