TORONTO – Supporters of the Oshawa family that received a hate-filled letter directed at their autistic son are planning a motorcycle ride in his honour.

Since the letter went viral, thousands of people have come forward to show their support for Maxwell Begley and his family.

A motorcycle club, the Clarington chapter of the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers (CMC094 Clarington), has organized a ride through Newcastle, Ont. They will start at a local Tim Hortons and ride past Maxwell’s grandmother’s home, where he will join.

The ride is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Organizers have told Global News they expect close to 100 people to attend.

The letter was delivered to Maxwell’s grandmother’s home in Newcastle last week while he was playing on the trampoline in the backyard. It attacked the family for “selfishly” allowing Max to play outside. The anonymous author complained that Max “scares the hell out of my normal children” and suggested the family “euthanize” him and donate his “non-retarded” body parts to science.

A Facebook group was formed Thursday evening by a New York woman to show support for the family. Since then, more than 3,400 people have joined the group.
