Man charged in Stanley Cup riot re-arrested by Transit Police for drinking in public

A Vancouver man charged in 2011’s Stanley Cup Riot has been arrested again, this time by Transit Police.

22-year-old Jeffrey Chatman was spotted by Transit Police on Monday night, standing on the corner of West Georgia St. and Granville St., drinking from an open can of beer.

Transit Police determined Chatman was in breach of his conditions in relation to the Stanley Cup Riot.

Police allege Chatman stole several items from the London Drugs store on riot night.

He was charged with taking part in a riot and break and enter.

The conditions stipulated that Chatman was “not to be in the area of Vancouver, British Columbia bounded by Pender Street to the North, Davie Street to the South, Thurlow Street to the West and Abbott and Pacific Streets to the East” or in any London Drugs stores.

As Chatman was spotted by Transit Police at Granville and Georgia, within his ‘no go zone,’ he has now been charged with breaching an undertaking.

He was released again yesterday with the same conditions: that he not be in the downtown area or in any London Drugs stores.

Chatman’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 9, 2013.
