EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating an alleged break and enter involving a sexual assault, and is asking the public to help identify the suspect.

At around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 19, officers responded to a 911 call from a home in the York neighbourhood, in Edmonton’s northeast.

The people in the home said they were woken up by noises they heard in the house.

A 19-year-old woman who was sleeping in the home was sexually assaulted by an unknown male.

Officers say another family member heard the disturbance and interrupted the assault.  They called police and the suspect fled the scene.  EPS Patrol and the Canine Unit searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to find him.

The investigation into this crime is continuing, and police now believe the suspect entered the home to commit a break and enter since some property is missing.
