TORONTO – Actor Dick Van Dyke, best known for films like Mary Poppins and his eponymous ’60s TV series, is suffering from a mysterious neurological disorder that’s impacting his ability to sleep.
“My head bangs every time I lay down,” the 87-year-old star tweeted on Wednesday. “I’ve had every test come back that I’m perfectly healthy. Anybody got any ideas?”
The Diagnosis Murder star was forced to cancel a scheduled appearance in New York next week because doctors advised him not to fly.
On Twitter, the actor said tests including an MRI, CT scan and spinal tap “showed nothing” and a sleep study offered no clues (“The only thing they discovered is that I don’t snore”). Van Dyke said he’s ignoring advice to seek treatment from a chiropractor. “I don’t believe in them,” he tweeted.
