TORONTO – A 39-year-old woman has been charged with the violent death of 24-year-old George Fawell, whose body was found last summer in an east Toronto park.
Police found Fawell’s body in Jimmie Simpson Park near Broadview Avenue between Queen Street East and Dundas Street, on Aug. 24, 2012.
On Wednesday, Lori Ann Crook was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement.
Toronto Police Detective Gary Giroux said Fawell died of stab wounds to the chest and “chopping wounds” to the neck and head. He added that the injuries were some of the worst he has seen in his career.
“It was so egregious that I believe Mr. Fawell passed away and the attack on his body continued,” Giroux said at an earlier press conference.
Crook appeared in court Thursday morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
