Whitby man charged after sex-trade worker sexually assaulted last October: Toronto police

A Whitby man has been arrested in connection with a nearly year-long sexual assault investigation, where a female sex-trade worker was allegedly assaulted near Toronto’s Regent Park.

Toronto police said officers were called to the Dundas Street East and River Street area on the evening of October 17, 2016.

Police said a man driving a white SUV had approached a female sex-trade worker standing on the sidewalk. After the woman got into the car, the man reportedly drove her to a secluded area.

The woman told police there was a violent struggle where she was choked and sexually assaulted. She had escaped and the man drove away.

On Saturday, Toronto police arrested Neville Blake, 30, of Whitby. He faces charges of sexual assault causing bodily harm; forcible confinement; choking, overcome resistance and uttering death threats.

Blake was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Monday morning.
