A late-summer heatwave has re-awakened the Elephant Hill wildfire.
The fire burning northwest of Kamloops now covers more than 175,000 hectares and is being fanned by dry heat and winds that were stronger than expected. Approximately 400 firefighters are battling the blaze, which is 50 per cent contained.

The fire has flared up in several areas and Emergency Management BC said they are monitoring the situation closely.

On Tuesday, the Cariboo Regional District issued an evacuation order for an area south of Highway 24.

An evacuation alert was issued for an area north of Highway 24.
While the nights are a little cooler, there is still no significant rain in the forecast.
