A woman and a 16-year-old male have been arrested and charged for robbery on Primrose Street two weeks ago in Dartmouth.

Police say on Aug. 4 at about 7 p.m., a 16-year-old was arrested from Dartmouth inside a restaurant on Nantucket Avenue in Dartmouth.

Eleven days later, an 18-year-old woman was arrested in Truro at 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 15. She was later taken back to Halifax.

According to Halifax Regional Police (HRP), officers responded to an apartment building on Primrose Street at 3:08 p.m. on Aug. 2.

Police say a 55-year-old man had entered the building and was followed by a woman and a male youth the man says he had seen at a drugstore on Primrose where he made a purchase. HRP says the man believed the couple followed him to his apartment and forced their way in as he entered.

The woman had a rock in her hand and the 16-year-old had a knife and they demanded the man’s property, police say. The man then stomped his feet on the floor, alerting his neighbour who came to his aid.

The youth and woman fled and were last seen running out the front door. The man was not injured and no property was stolen. Police say it is not believed the suspects or victim are known to each other.

While nothing was taken, police said in an email to Global News that under section 343 (c) of the Criminal Code, an assault with the intent to steal qualifies as robbery.

Makira Dawn Armstrong, 18, of Dartmouth was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Wednesday to face charges of break-and-enter, robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The 16-year-old male youth appeared in Halifax Provincial Youth Court Aug. 5 to face charges of break-and-enter, robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of breaching a recognizance and two counts of breaching of a probation order.
