Vancouver Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspicious man who allegedly approached a 16-year-old in South Vancouver back in June.

The incident took place before 3:30 p.m. on June 29. The teen was walking home in the area of East 45th Avenue and Doman St. when a man driving a new model silver sedan stopped beside her.

The man in the car allegedly called out to the girl and asked he if she had plans before driving away.

Police say the man then drove up to her again a few blocks away, near Arlington Street, and asked her more questions.

The teen told police the questions were sexual in nature.

Police say the teen became concerned for her safety after seeing the man get out of his car in an apparent attempt to find her. She then went to a friend’s house to call her parents and police.

“Although the man didn’t attempt to make physical contact, his behaviour is concerning and we would like to speak with him to hear his side of the story,” said Const. Jason Doucette with VPD.

Investigators are looking to speak to the man to see if he can explain why he was acting that way.

The man is described as being white, in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5’10” tall, and 180 to 200 lbs., with a short manicured beard.

He was wearing a grey ball cap, mirrored Aviator sunglasses, a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
