Highway 97, about 8 km north of Osoyoos, was shut down for three hours following a three vehicle crash Tuesday night.

“Police have determined that a gold coloured Pontiac Grandam was involved in a head on collision with a black Chevrolet pickup truck,” Cpl. Ryan McLeod said in a news release. “A Smart Car was caught up in the resulting crash.”

The pickup truck driver was said to be pinned to his seat following the collision.

It’s possible at least two people were airlifted from the scene to Kelowna General Hospital. RCMP confirm three people were taken to hospital with varying degrees of injuries.

The highway opened just before 9 p.m.
