Ward 6 is the largest in the city, encompassing the North Central Neighbourhood and the Warehouse District, all the way out to the industrial area in the northeast corner of Regina. It includes Mosaic Stadium, the Pasqua Hospital and the Co-Op Refinery.
The ward struggles with poverty, a high crime rate in the North Central neighbourhood and a number of school closures have happened in recent years. The Regina Revitalization Initiative aims to refresh the community with a planned redevelopment of the old Mosaic Stadium into a mixed-income neighbourhood, once a new stadium is opened.
In 2012, Ward 6 had the lowest voter turnout in the city and Wade Murray was re-elected with 49.1 per cent of the vote.
This is one of three wards in Regina who will have a new councillor, In August, Wade Murray announced that he would not be seeing re-election in the ward.
