Regina Votes 2016: Ward 2

Ward 2 is found in Regina’s southwest corner. Regina Avenue borders it to the north, with Albert Street to the east. Global News

Ward 2 is found in Regina’s southwest corner. Regina Avenue borders it to the north, with Albert Street to the east.

The community is a mix of some of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city and the newest. In Lakeview, there are homes dating back to the early 1900s and in Harbour Landing, there are many new homes.

The ward includes Southland Mall and the airport. The pressures of growth are evident, with traffic on the rise around Harbour Landing and badly-needed road improvements being completed to handle it. The improvements include the construction of the highway one overpass and the extension of Parliament Avenue.

Just under 20,000 people live in Ward 2. In 2012, 28 per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot, electing Bob Hawkins for the first time.

Candidates
