TORONTO — One person is dead after a car crashed into the back of another on the Highway 401 westbound express lanes just west of Keele Street.
Ontario Provincial Police said it happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
One woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All westbound lanes were closed from Avenue Road for several hours but have since reopened.
Guelph crash injures four
A few hours later, four people were also injured in a separate collision between an SUV and a truck on Highway 401 in Guelph, Ont. around 3:30 a.m.
Three people were trapped for more than an hour and were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A fourth person was thrown from the vehicle and was also injured.
Two right lanes are closed on Highway 401 near Highway 6.
