KELOWNA, B.C. – Members of the Hells Angels and other biker gangs called the Throttle Lockers and Kingpin Crew are accused of trafficking stolen vehicles out of a West Kelowna, B.C., motorcycle shop.
RCMP in Kelowna spent six months investigating the theft of cars, boats, ATVs, trucks and machinery before announcing the charges Tuesday.
Insp. Rick Flewelling says biker gang members from Nanaimo, Calgary and Kelowna were known to have an association with the business.
John Edward Newcome, who owns Cycle Logic in West Kelowna, has been charged with numerous offences related to the possession and trafficking of stolen property.
Police say this marks one of the first times in B.C. that charges have been laid for the trafficking of stolen property.
The Conservative government brought in the law making it a crime to traffic in stolen property in 2010. (CKFR)
