Manitobans Jordin Tootoo, Calvin Pickard and Mat Bodie all signed contracts on Tuesday.
Tootoo, 33, signed with his fourth NHL club after agreeing to a one year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. The former Brandon Wheat Kings’ forward has played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils. He played the last two years in New Jersey and last season scored four goals with five assists and 102 penalty minutes in 66 games.

Pickard, 24, was a restricted free agent. He agreed to a two-year contract to remain with the Colorado Avalanche. He split time between the Avs and the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage last season. In 20 games with the Avalanche he had a 7-6-1 record with a 2.56 goals against average. The Avalanche selected Pickard in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft. He also helped Canada win a gold medal at the 2016 World Hockey Championships. Pickard who hails from Winnipeg, appeared in two games for Canada, winning both times.

Bodie, 26, re-signed with the New York Rangers. He’s yet to appear in an NHL game, but played in 76 games with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack last season where he had seven goals and 29 assists. The East St. Paul native originally joined the Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
