Targeted home invasion in Prince George leaves RCMP concerned

A targeted home invasion in Prince George has left RCMP concerned about a number of recent incidents in a small area of the city.

On June 23, one person was injured and five people detained after police responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Gould Crescent.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was treated for an injury that was not a result of a gunshot wound.

Police believe other people left the scene before officers arrived.

This incident follows a number of shootings in Prince George, which police believe were targeted towards known individuals in the drug trade.

In a release, Prince George RCMP said:

Although the motives for these incidents are still under investigation, they appear to be conflicts centered around illegal activities. Our focus has been and will remain not only to determine “who” is involved, but “why”. A strong focus will also be to deter and disrupt further violence, as well as apprehending those who are responsible. These violent acts are completely intolerable and all available police assets at the Prince George Municipal Detachment will be utilized to combat and target those involved.
