Aspen Interiors, a Saskatoon-based company, has been fined for failing to pay wages.

The company was charged under employment standards legislation for failing to pay wages and overtime to employees.

On May 31, the company pleaded guilty in Saskatoon provincial court to one count of failing to pay overtime and seven counts of failing to pay wages.

It also pleaded guilty to one count of failing to honour a cheque.

Another 35 counts against the company were withdrawn and 86 counts against the company’s directors were stayed.

“People work hard for their money,” said Greg Tuer, executive director of the Saskatchewan government’s employment standards division.

“We are here to help when employees don’t receive the wages they’ve earned.”

Aspen Interiors was fined $14,080 for the violations.
